Pippa 2023

During the War of 1971 between India and Pakistan, Captain Balram Singh Mehta, an Indian officer in the 45th Cavalry Regiment, fought on the eastern front, alongside fellow officers. Pippa, meaning an empty tin can, is a dramatization of the true events of the Battle of Garibpur, a decisive turning point in the war that led to the creation of Bangladesh. The Russian tank PT-76 was known for its ability to float on water, which allowed the Indian soldiers to cross the Meghna River and launch a surprise attack on the Pakistani forces. The film follows Mehta and his companions as they lead their troops into battle against the Pakistanis.
