Ratings on Somindram

Movie and film production is an immensely complex undertaking and involves tight collaboration between highly capable artists and technicians specializing in diverse fields. Some perform well, others maybe not so much.

A movie with an engaging storyline but lacking good direction, or with superior sound yet poor cinematography, may be given a rating of 3/10 but does that mean everyone deserved a 3.00?

On Somindram every Critic can rate a movie on at least 16 film production criteria alone. Then each actor is independently ratable. And songs, an integral branding component of any Indian movie, are rated on 5 different criteria.

For Critics, Somindram’s rating engine is indispensable. It will give them tools to objectively assign ratings on criteria and if desired provide comments on their decisions. Critics are not required to rate on all components but it is infinitely more meaningful if they do.

Flat and Composite Ratings

On Somindram, everyone has the choice of using both rating systems.

The Flat Rating is a conventional type of rating that allows a User to assign a blanket “one size fits all” value to the Movie. Flat ratings do not take into account any individual’s input and its quality. This is a feel good rating that is quick and dirty.. In fact it has no objective value.

The Composite Rating on Somindram is where Fans and Critics can use educated assessments and exercise their judgements wisely, and objectively. Users do not have to rate all criteria and can opt to rate only those components they are comfortable with.

The following “Film Production” criteria are available on Somindram, and all can be rated separately.
