Kesari 2019

Kesari is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language war drama film about the Battle of Saragarhi. The movie follows Havildar Ishar Singh, an Indian Sikh soldier in the British Indian Army who leads twenty-one other soldiers against an army of 10,000 Afghan and Orakzai tribesmen in the year 1897. Ishar Singh and his men fearlessly fight for seven hours until their deaths in what is considered one of the greatest last stands in history. The events of the battle are seen through flashbacks as Ishar's life is narrated by his daughter-in-law in modern day India. Kesari is a story of dedication, courage, honour and duty. It pays tribute to the extraordinary sacrifice of Ishar and his men, and how their bravery has been remembered down the ages.
