Story

Mantostaan is a 2015 Hindi film, directed by Rahat Kazmi. The story takes place in 1947, during the Partition of India. It follows the lives of four Muslim families as they flee to safety from their homes in Punjab. They find refuge in a village called Mantostaan, where they are welcomed by an old Sikh farmer and his wife. However, their troubles are far from over, as the villagers begin to suspect the Muslim refugees of being terrorists. In the midst of rising tensions and unspeakable violence, the refugees must fight for their survival and dignity. Despite all the tragedy and horror that surrounds them, the refugees cling to hope and faith in humanity. In the end, the refugees manage to escape and are reunited with their families in Pakistan. The film serves as a powerful reminder of the harsh realities of Partition, and the human cost of such large-scale displacement.
