Story

Mahatma is a biographical film about the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, more commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi. It tells the story of his transformation from a young lawyer in South Africa to the leader of India’s independence movement. The movie begins with Gandhi’s early life in British-occupied India and follows him through his time in South Africa where he faced discrimination based on his race. From there, he returns to India and begins his journey of civil disobedience against the oppressive British rule. He rallies the Indian people to peacefully protest and ultimately succeeds in winning India its freedom. The movie ends with Gandhi’s assassination by a Hindu extremist. The film documents Gandhi’s legacy as an advocate for justice, peace, and non-violent resistance. Through his courage and perseverance, he showed that it was possible to change the world without violence. His legacy lives on today and continues to inspire people around the world.
