Story

Manjhi - The Mountain Man is a 2015 Indian biographical drama film based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, directed by Ketan Mehta and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Dashrath Manjhi, a poor laborer in Gehlaur village, near Gaya in Bihar, India. After his wife Falguni (Radhika Apte) dies from injuries sustained after falling off a mountain, Manjhi makes it his mission to carve a road through the mountain, using only a hammer and chisel. Despite facing numerous hardships, Manjhi succeeds in carving a path along the mountain over 22 years. The film tells the inspiring story of Dashrath Manjhi, a poor laborer who was determined to make a difference. After his beloved wife, Falguni, tragically died due to lack of medical facilities in their remote village, Manjhi was spurred into action and vowed to carve a path through the mountain that separated them from the nearest village with medical facilities.
