Thalaivii is a 2021 Indian biographical drama film based on the life of Indian actress-politician J. Jayalalithaa. The film stars Kangana Ranaut as Jayalalithaa, Arvind Swamy as M. G. Ramachandran, and Raj Arjun as R. M. Veerappan. Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, it is directed by A. L. Vijay and written by Madhan Karky (Tamil) and Rajat Arora (Hindi).

The film begins with Jayalalithaa's childhood in Melur, where she is a bright and ambitious student. She dreams of becoming a movie star, and after winning a beauty pageant, she is cast in a Tamil film. She quickly becomes a successful actress, and her popularity leads her to enter politics.

Jayalalithaa joins the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party, and she soon becomes a close associate of M. G. Ramachandran, the party's leader. She is elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in 1984, and she becomes the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 1991.
