Story

Kissa Kursi Ka is a satirical Hindi movie released in 1977. It was directed by Amrit Nahata, who was a Member of Parliament at the time. The story follows two rival political parties who are in a power struggle. One party is led by a powerful and corrupt businessman, while the other is led by a saintly, honest leader. In the midst of their fight, the businessman decides to use a chair as a symbol of his power. He arranges for the chair to be installed in the middle of a public square, and orders that no one may sit on it. However, an old woman defiantly sits on the chair, prompting a riot from those who oppose the businessman. In the end, the businessman is defeated and the chair is destroyed. Kissa Kursi Ka is a powerful comment on the misuse of power and its consequences.
