Serious Men 2020

Serious Men is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film directed by Sudhir Mishra, and based on the novel of the same name by Manu Joseph. It follows Ayyan Mani, an ambitious underappreciated middle-aged slum dweller who works as an assistant to an arrogant astronomer at the National Institute of Fundamental Research. Desperate for success in order to improve his life and that of his son Adi's, he fabricates a series of stories about a brilliant discovery he has made, which soon gain attention from the scientific world. With no real evidence to back up his claims, Mani must find a way to sustain his lies as his life spirals out of control. In the end, Mani finds redemption and learns to appreciate what he already had.
