Fan is a story about fame, obsession and identity. It revolves around Gaurav, an obsessive fan of Aryan Khanna, a Bollywood superstar. Gaurav believes that his life has been intertwined with Aryan’s since childhood and goes to any lengths to please him. He imitates Aryan’s every move and travels to Mumbai to meet him. Initially, Aryan appreciates Gaurav’s enthusiasm but soon realizes that Gaurav is becoming dangerous as he begins to threaten people in the name of Aryan. When Gaurav’s attempt to ruin Aryan’s career fails, he takes drastic measures and kidnaps Aryan’s son. In the end, Aryan manages to save his son and Gaurav’s delusions of being Aryan’s true fan are shattered. The movie ends on an emotional note with Gaurav realizing the difference between admiration and obsession.
