The Movie Report

In March 2022, fresh off the success of the slasher film "X," director Ti West announced he was crafting a follow-up. This third film, titled "MaXXXine," would hurtle viewers forward in time, exploring the influence of the burgeoning home video market on horror. While each film stands alone, West envisioned them as interconnected pieces.

Shortly after, the project gained official steam, with West confirmed at the helm and actress Mia Goth returning as the sole survivor of the original film's bloody rampage, Maxine. Set in 1985, "MaXXXine" would chronicle her relentless pursuit of Hollywood stardom. A leaked teaser trailer fueled excitement, propelling the film towards a fast-track production greenlight by A24.

By January 2023, Goth reported a completed script, brimming with confidence that it surpassed its predecessors. Familiar faces from the prior films were slated to return, with shooting due to commence later that year. The casting news in April 2023 sent shockwaves thro...

By January 2023, Goth reported a completed script, brimming with confidence that it surpassed its predecessors. Familiar faces from the prior films were slated to return, with shooting due to commence later that year. The casting news in April 2023 sent shockwaves through the industry, with a star-studded line-up including Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, and Kevin Bacon.

Drama erupted on the set of the upcoming horror film "MaXXXine" in January 2024. James Hunter, a background actor playing a dead body, filed a lawsuit against actress Mia Goth. Hunter alleges that Goth intentionally kicked him in the head during filming and then mocked him for it. The lawsuit doesn't stop there; it also claims that film studio A24 and director Ti West wrongfully fired him after the incident.

Filming wrapped in May 2023 after a whirlwind seven weeks in Los Angeles, and by February 2024, editing was nearing completion. Anticipation for "MaXXXine" continues to simmer, promising a thrilling new chapter in West's exploration of horror and ambition.
