Story

Ek Misaal is a 1984 Indian drama film directed by Vijay Sadanah, starring Mithun Chakraborty and Ranjeeta Kaur. The story revolves around two childhood friends, Gopi (Mithun) and Uma (Ranjeeta). They belong to different religions, with Gopi being Hindu and Uma being Muslim. Gopi and Uma were born in the same slum. Despite their cultural differences, they shared an unbreakable bond since childhood. Even after growing up, they remain inseparable. However, events occur that threaten their relationship. Uma's brother, who is a member of a gang, wrongfully accuses Gopi of stealing from their family. The accusations lead to a communal riot between Hindus and Muslims. Gopi and Uma have to struggle to survive and save their families. In the end, it is Gopi and Uma's love that saves them from destruction. Ek Misaal is a heartwarming story of enduring friendship, despite religious differences. It is a reminder of a greater truth - that love can overcome all odds.
