Charandas 1977

_Chor Charandas Chor is a 1975 Indian comedy-drama film directed by Shyam Benegal and starring Amrish Puri and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles. The story focuses on Charandas, a thief who is caught and brought before the village chief. He is given a chance to redeem himself by the chief and is ordered to follow the same path of honesty from then on. Charandas takes up this challenge and lives an honest life, but when his old friend Champa comes to visit him, he finds it hard to resist the temptation of stealing again. Eventually, Charandas realizes that he must stick to his word and stay honest if he wants to be respected by the villagers. In the end, Charandas is able to prove his loyalty to the chief and is accepted once again in the community. This movie teaches us that no matter how difficult our circumstances may be, we must always strive to keep our word and remain true to ourselves.
