Agni Rekha 1973

Agni Rekha is a movie about a young woman, Uma (played by Sharmila Tagore). She is from a middle-class family and lives in the city of Chandigarh. Uma is a bright and ambitious girl who dreams of becoming a teacher. However, her father objects to her ambition and instead gets her married off to an elderly man. Uma is unhappy with the arranged marriage and finds solace in her new neighbor, Ravi (played by Rajesh Khanna). Ravi is an educated and wealthy man who takes a liking to Uma and helps her realize her dream of becoming a teacher. Along the way, Uma also develops feelings for him. The two eventually start a relationship but their love affair is short-lived when Uma's husband returns home. Uma must make a difficult decision between staying loyal to her husband or following her heart. Agni Rekha tells the story of a young woman's struggle against societal norms and her inner conflict between duty and desire. In the end, she is able to find a balance between the two and live happily ever after.
