Teen Kanya is a 2012 Indian Bengali drama film, directed by Satyajit Ray. It is an amalgamation of three stories about three young girls, each living in a different time period and facing different challenges. In "Monihara" (The Lost Jewels), Aparna is a young woman in 19th Century Bengal who falls victim to the superstitions and prejudices of her time. When her father dies, she is forced to give up her valuable jewels and is tricked out of her inheritance. In "Samapti" (The Conclusion), Charu is a young woman in pre-independence India who struggles to find her independence and freedom within a patriarchal society. She is torn between her desire to marry for love or follow the wishes of her oppressive father. In "Postmaster", Ratan is a little girl in modern-day India who finds solace and companionship from her postmaster, who takes it upon himself to take care of her.
