The film stars Bharat Bhushan as Rama, a prince sent into exile to uphold his father's promise, and Anita Guha as Sita, a princess raised in the mountains who follows him. Along with them are their brother Laxmana, played by Ulhas, and Hanuman, played by Gajendra. The story of Ramayan follows Rama, Sita and Laxmana on their journey across India in search of Sita's kidnapped husband, Rama. Along the way, they face many obstacles, including the demon king Ravana, played by Niranjan Sharma. With the help of Hanuman, they eventually succeed in rescuing Sita and returning home victorious. The film ends happily with the reunion of Rama and Sita and their ultimate coronation as rulers of Ayodhya.
