Kora Kagaz 1974

Kora Kagaz is a 1974 Indian drama film, directed by Anil Ganguly, starring Jaya Bhaduri and Vinod Mehra in lead roles. The story follows the life of a poor, young Brahmin woman, Madhavi (Bhaduri) from rural Uttar Pradesh. She is married off to a wealthy widower, Ramlal (Mehra), despite her desire to pursue higher education and become a teacher. After her marriage, Madhavi is subjected to cruel treatment by her husband's family and she is denied her right to education. Despite these obstacles, Madhavi perseveres and eventually succeeds in gaining an education. With the help of her friend, Dr. Sharma (A.K. Hangal), she bravely stands up against the injustice of her husband's family and is able to achieve her dreams of becoming a teacher. Ultimately, her courage and determination leads to a better understanding between her husband and herself.
