Story

Bhakta Surdas is a 1965 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Babubhai Mistri, based on the story of 16th-century poet and singer Surdas, who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Krishna. The film stars Bharat Bhushan as Surdas and Lalita Pawar as his mother. It follows Surdas from his childhood when he was abandoned by his mother due to her poverty, yet she still hoped for him to live a better life. As a young man, Surdas falls in love with a princess but their marriage is impossible. He decides to dedicate himself to God and becomes the most devoted disciple of Lord Krishna. Through his devotion and singing, Surdas attains salvation and fulfills his mother's wish. The film conveys the message of divine intervention and the power of faith. In the end, Surdas is reunited with his mother and his beloved princess.
