Story

Alam Ara is a 1931 Indian musical drama film directed by Ardeshir Irani. The story revolves around the King of the Kingdom of Kumarpur, who is a generous and kind ruler. His daughter Princess Alam Ara is loved by his people, and has two suitors vying for her hand in marriage. One is a prince from another kingdom, while the other is a commoner who loves her dearly. The King holds a competition to decide which suitor to choose. In the end, he chooses the commoner, much to the dismay of the other suitor. This causes tension between the two kingdoms and leads to war. In the midst of the battle, the King dies and Princess Alam Ara steps up to rule the kingdom. She proves to be an able leader, defeating the enemy and restoring peace. In the end, she marries the commoner and the people of the kingdom live happily ever after.
