Story

House No. 44 is a 1965 Indian family drama film directed by Krishnan-Panju. The story revolves around a middle class family of four, who are forced to leave their house due to financial difficulty. Gopi (Shivaji Ganesan), the head of the household, and his wife Saraswati (Gemini Ganesan) have two sons, Mani (Vijayakumar) and Raju (Vinu Chakravarthy). The family moves to a small village where they take up residence in an old, deserted house number 44. Initially, the family faces difficulties in adjusting to the new environment, but soon Gopi finds employment and things begin to look brighter. However, the family's newfound peace is short-lived when Raju discovers that the house is haunted. The family decides to move out of the house, but Gopi's employer refuses to provide them with a loan. Fortunately, Gopi's friend helps them out and they manage to secure the funds.
