Aurat is a 1967 Bollywood drama film directed by Tapi Chanakya. The movie follows the story of Kasturi, an illiterate woman living in a rural Indian village with her two sons. Despite being married to Subbu, Kasturi is constantly mistreated and abused by her husband and his family. After losing her sons due to neglect, Kasturi takes it upon herself to educate them and teach them the value of hard work. Along the way, she discovers her own strength and courage and eventually earns respect from her family. With the help of a progressive school teacher, Kasturi manages to bring about a change in the lives of her sons, as well as her own. Ultimately, Kasturi is able to break free from the shackles of traditional patriarchy and reclaim her freedom and identity.
