Ziddi is a 1948 Indian Bollywood romantic drama film directed by Shaheed Latif. It stars Dev Anand and Kamini Kaushal in the lead roles. The story revolves around two passionate lovers, Shyamu and Gauri, whose love is opposed by their families. Despite their families' strong disapproval, Shyamu and Gauri elope to get married. On their journey, they are attacked by a group of bandits and Shyamu is killed. Gauri is left alone and heartbroken, but she is rescued by Rai Bahadur Choudhry. He eventually adopts her as his own daughter and she moves into his house. Eventually, the truth about her past is revealed and she is reunited with her family. Despite the initial opposition, her family eventually accept her marriage with Shyamu and she begins a new life with him.
