Story

Veer-Zaara is a romantic drama about the star-crossed love between an Indian Air Force officer, Veer Pratap Singh (Shah Rukh Khan) and a Pakistani heiress, Zaara Hayat Khan (Preity Zinta). The pair meet when Zaara comes to India to fulfill her late grandmother's wish of scattering her ashes in the country. Despite their cultural differences, they fall deeply in love and decide to marry. However, Zaara must return to Pakistan and soon after, Veer is arrested and imprisoned on false charges. For 22 years, he awaits his release without knowing that Zaara has been searching for him the entire time. Eventually, with the help of Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji), a Pakistani lawyer, the truth is revealed and Veer is released. In the end, Veer and Zaara are reunited and marry in a joyous ceremony attended by friends and family from both sides of the border.
