am Vachanam is a Telugu film that revolves around the relationship between a father, Ramanamurthy (Krishnam Raju), and his son, Ravi (Rajendra Prasad). Ramanamurthy is a wealthy businessman and his son Ravi is a struggling student. Ravi's father is not very understanding of his son's struggles and does not understand why he can't focus on studies. This creates a rift between the two. Things take a turn when Ravi meets a young girl, Laxmi (Kavitha). Laxmi helps Ravi with his studies and also brings the father-son duo closer. Meanwhile, Ramanamurthy discovers that Laxmi is the daughter of an old friend. He arranges for her to stay in their home, thus reuniting the old friends after many years. Ramanamurthy soon realizes his mistake and apologizes to Ravi for not being understanding. He encourages Ravi to continue his studies with Laxmi's help.
