Story

Umar is a 2006 Indian film directed by Raj N. Sippy about the life of a Muslim man, Umar (played by Rahul Bose). Umar is a devout Muslim who lives in a small village in India with his family. He is a respected member of the community and is very devoted to God. When Umar's father passes away, he decides to go on a pilgrimage to Mecca, a journey that will take him across half the country. On his travels, he meets people from different backgrounds and beliefs, and learns more about himself. He also begins to question his faith and why his religion does not allow him to love the woman he has feelings for. Umar eventually arrives at Mecca, but his journey has changed him and made him question his faith. He returns to his village a changed man, determined to bring together everyone in the community regardless of their religious beliefs. In the end, Umar finds peace within himself and shows others that peace can exist even if everyone is different.
