Story

Udaan is an Indian drama film about a young boy named Rohan who is forced to return home after eight years of boarding school. He is faced with the daunting prospect of living with his oppressive and authoritarian father, who runs a small factory in Jamshedpur, India. Despite his dreams of becoming a writer, Rohan is forced to work at the factory and help his father run it. His dreams are further crushed when his father announces that he will have to attend engineering college instead of pursuing his writing career. After months of struggling to cope with his father's demands, Rohan eventually finds an ally in his step-brother, Arjun. With Arjun's support, Rohan is able to break away from his father's strict rules and begin to pursue his dream. He joins a local newspaper and begins to write articles that challenge his father's authority and beliefs. In the end, Rohan is able to pursue his dream and gain the respect of his father.
