Garfielde, the world's laziest cat, is living the good life. His days revolve around napping in sunbeams, devouring mountains of lasagna, and tormenting his goofy canine companion, Odie. But Garfield's world is thrown into chaos when a scruffy alley cat named Vic shows up on his doorstep. Turns out, Vic is Garfield's long-lost father, and he's not there for a warm welcome.
Vic needs Garfield's help with a high-stakes heist. He claims a powerful artifact, a legendary hairball of Cleopawtra, is hidden somewhere in a fancy museum, and Vic believes it holds the key to unimaginable wealth (for cats, of course). Garfield, horrified at the idea of exertion, initially refuses. But when Vic accidentally gets Odie mixed up in the scheme, Garfield reluctantly joins the mission.
Their unlikely team embarks on a hilarious escapade through the bustling city. Garfield, with his signature sarcasm and love of shortcuts, clashes with Vic's street smarts and old-school criminal methods. Meanwhile, Odie's goofy antics provide comic relief as they try to avoid capture by a bumbling museum security guard.
Along the way, Garfield rediscovers a hidden adventurous side he never knew he had. He uses his cunning feline instincts to outsmart laser grids and navigate hidden passages. He even faces his fear of water (sort of) to escape a particularly sticky situation.
As they near the hairball, Garfield and Vic start to bond, a grudging respect forming between father and son. But their heist takes an unexpected turn when they discover the hairball isn't a key to riches, but a powerful weapon capable of controlling minds (again, for cats). The villainous mastermind behind the museum, a pampered Persian show cat named Darius, aims to use it to take over the feline world.
Garfield, Vic, and Odie must join forces to stop Darius and his legion of brainwashed felines. In an epic showdown filled with flying fur and epic (for cats) martial arts moves, Garfield must finally embrace his inner hero (while still squeezing in a nap or two). The film ends with Garfield, somehow, still maintaining his lazy lifestyle, but with a newfound appreciation for his family, both furry and non-furry.
