It follows the story of two neighbors, Prem and Kaushalya, who are both attracted to one another but their families are against them being together. Prem's family has arranged for him to get married to a woman he does not love, and Kaushalya's father has forbidden her from even speaking to Prem. The two devise a plan to elope, but the night before they are set to leave, Kaushalya's father finds out. He chases after them and eventually catches up with them.
