Tansen is a 1962 Indian biographical musical film directed by Sohrab Modi. It is based on the life of Tansen, a legendary musician in the court of Mughal emperor Akbar. The film stars Bharat Bhushan as Tansen, along with Vyjayanthimala and Pradeep Kumar in lead roles. The story follows Tansen, an orphan raised by a nobleman, who discovers his musical talents and trains as a classical musician. After training, he enters the court of Emperor Akbar, where he becomes a prominent musician. He also falls in love with Akbar's daughter, but their relationship is forbidden. Despite this, they are eventually married, but it comes at a cost. Tansen has to give up his music as part of the marriage agreement, causing him great distress. Eventually, after much struggle and hardship, he is able to regain his music and perform for the court once more. The film ends with him being worshipped as a great musician and scientist.
