Story

Tamasha is a 1952 Indian romantic comedy film directed by Amiya Chakrabarty. It stars Dev Anand and Padmini in the lead roles. The story revolves around two strangers, Shyam and Rita, who meet on a train. Shyam is a struggling artist trying to make it in the world of theatre, while Rita is a wealthy heiress who is running away from an arranged marriage. Both are attracted to each other, but neither confesses their feelings due to certain inhibitions. After spending a few days together travelling, they part ways without revealing their identities. Later, Shyam discovers that Rita is the daughter of his benefactor and that she was running away from her engagement. He must now find a way to reunite them without hurting his benefactor's feelings. In the end, the two lovers are able to come together with the help of Shyam's artistic skills and Rita's courage and determination.
