Summer Camp 2024

These ladies have been through thick and thin together, their bond forged in the fires of summer camp shenanigans years ago. While their lives have followed different paths. their friendship remains a constant.

When the unexpected opportunity arises for a reunion at their beloved Camp Pinnacle, none of them can resist. Nora, a woman used to a life of control, approaches the reunion with a touch of skepticism. Ginny, ever the firecracker, is brimming with excitement. Mary, the grounding force in the trio, sees the reunion as a chance to reconnect with her cherished friends.

But Camp Pinnacle isn't quite the carefree haven they remember. The camp director, a man with questionable management skills (played by the hilarious Eugene Levy), throws a wrench into their nostalgic plans. The once-familiar cabins seem smaller, the counselors younger (think Josh Peck in a whistle!), and the activities, well, let's just say they've been "modernized" – not necessarily for the better in the eyes of our seasoned campers.

As the weekend unfolds, Nora, Ginny, and Mary rediscover the joys (and occasional frustrations) of female friendship. They navigate the awkwardness of middle-aged flirting (remember those camp crushes?), relive favorite camp traditions (think silly campfire singalongs!), and grapple with the realities of aging.

By April, the cast list was buzzing with even more big names; Beverly D'Angelo (Stella Kowalski in the TV film A Streetcar Named Desire - 1984), Dennis Haysbert, Nicole Richie, Josh Peck, Betsy Sodaro, and Tom Wright all signed on, creating a diverse and dynamic ensemble.

Filming kicked off in North Carolina that same month, with the beautiful Camp Pinnacle serving as the primary backdrop. The camp's rich history, stunning scenery, and exciting activities, like the Sky Ropes course, made it the perfect setting for the film's nostalgic themes. Production wrapped in late May, with additional scenes filmed at Wingate University, Nantahala Outdoor Center, and UNC Health Pardee. Over 1,000 local residents were even brought in as extras, adding to the film's authenticity.

By October 2023, post-production was underway, and anticipation began to build. Finally, in April 2024, Roadside Attractions swooped in, acquiring the U.S. distribution rights and setting a theatrical release date for May 31st. Get ready for a summer filled with laughter, rekindled friendships, and a heartwarming reminder that the magic of camp can last a lifetime!
