Shikast is a 1953 Indian film that tells the story of two lovers, Raj Kumar and Shanti. Raj is an influential businessman who has a reputation for being tough but fair. He falls in love with Shanti, an orphaned girl from a small village. Their relationship blossoms despite the disapproval of Raj's family. Eventually, Raj and Shanti get married, only to find out that they are unable to have children. In a desperate attempt to save their marriage, Raj decides to adopt a child. However, this decision leads to tragedy as Shanti is killed in a car accident while on her way to pick up the adopted child. Raj is left devastated and refuses to accept Shanti's death. In the end, he finds solace in his work and eventually comes to terms with her death. Shikast is an emotional tale of love, loss, and resilience.
