Story

Sangeet Samrat Tansen is an Indian historical drama film released in 1965. The story follows the life of Tansen, a famous court musician in 16th century India. He is a master of classical music and his performances are so powerful that they can bring rain or evoke other natural phenomena. His fame brings him to the attention of Emperor Akbar, who appoints him as head of the royal orchestra. Tansen must then contend with jealousy from other court musicians as well as the machinations of the emperor's sons. Despite these obstacles, he rises to become one of the most celebrated musicians in history. The film culminates with Tansen's performance at the emperor's court, where he delivers a legendary rendition of raga Deepak. This performance ultimately leads to his death, but not before he leaves behind a legacy of great music.
