Safar is a 1970 Indian drama film about a successful doctor, Ashok (Feroz Khan), who is deeply in love with the beautiful Seema (Sharmila Tagore). When his parents arrange for him to marry another woman, he refuses and decides to take a long train journey across India to be with Seema. Along the way, he meets several interesting characters and experiences the beauty of the country. He eventually reaches his destination, but learns that Seema has been married off to someone else by her family. Heartbroken, he returns home to his parents and agrees to their marriage plan. In the end, he finds solace and peace in the love of his new wife. Despite his sorrow, he is able to move on and find happiness once again.
