Story

Prince is a 1969 British musical drama film directed by Gordon Flemyng. An adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, The King and I, it stars Mark Lester as the titular character, Prince Chulalongkorn of Siam. The story follows Prince Chulalongkorn's journey to England to receive an education, and his interactions with Anna Leonowens, a schoolteacher from Wales hired by his father to teach the royal children. Upon arriving in England, the Prince meets many new people, including a young girl named Elsie, and is exposed to a variety of novel ideas and experiences. He also discovers his own culture from a different perspective. As he makes more friends, his relationship with Anna becomes more strained, but ultimately they both come to understand and appreciate each other more. In the end, the Prince returns home to Siam, and Anna remains in England, where she is reunited with her son.
