Story

Phillauri is a romantic comedy-drama film about a man, Kanan, who unknowingly marries a tree to ward off any bad luck on his marriage. It turns out the tree is inhabited by Shashi, an Indian spirit from the 19th century. Shashi follows Kanan and his new wife Anu around to make sure they are happy. Meanwhile, she learns more about the modern world and starts to fall in love with a local singer, Roop Lal Phillauri. Eventually, Kanan and Anu figure out that Shashi won't leave them until she gets her own happily ever after as well. With the help of villagers and Roop Lal, Shashi's wish is granted and she returns to the tree. In the end, Kanan and Anu are able to start their married life together without any bad luck.
