Story

Pestonjee is a 1988 Indian drama film directed by Vijaya Mehta. It is based on the Gujarati play of the same name written by Jagdish Gandhi. The story follows Pestonjee, an elderly Parsi man living in India. He has two sons who live abroad and rarely come to visit him. One day, his sons arrive with their families for a visit. Pestonjee is ecstatic to see his grandchildren but soon realizes that the children do not understand or respect their heritage. He decides to take them on a journey to his ancestral home in Gujarat and teach them about their culture and history. Along the way, they learn the importance of family, love, and tradition. At the end of the trip, Pestonjee's grandkids have gained a newfound appreciation of their roots and identity. They return home with a better understanding of their past and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
