Paying Guest is a 1957 Bollywood romantic comedy film directed by Subodh Mukherjee. It stars Meena Kumari and Dev Anand in the lead roles. The film follows the story of a young couple, Raja (Dev Anand) and Roopa (Meena Kumari), who are struggling to make ends meet in post-independence India. Raja finds employment as a paying guest at the house of a wealthy industrialist. Things take an unexpected turn when Roopa begins to develop feelings for the industrialist's son. Raja, feeling threatened, decides to move out of the house. In a twist of fate, Raja and Roopa end up falling in love with each other again. The movie follows their journey as they learn to accept and forgive each other. The movie also showcases the struggles of life after independence and how people have to work hard to make a living. Paving Guest is a lighthearted story of love, forgiveness, and acceptance.
