Neerja 2016

Neerja is a 2016 Indian biographical drama film based on the life of Neerja Bhanot, a flight attendant who died while protecting passengers from hijackers on board Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986. The movie follows Neerja's journey as she courageously foils the plane hijacking by four terrorists from the Abu Nidal group. When they threaten to kill the passengers, she bravely takes the initiative and reveals her identity as a flight attendant, devising a plan for passengers to escape. Despite facing grave danger, Neerja succeeds in saving 359 of the 379 passengers on board. However, she is shot and killed by the hijackers during the rescue mission. Neerja is a story of valor and courage that celebrates the power of an individual to stand up against terrorism. It showcases how Neerja risked her life to save others and was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest civilian award for bravery.
