Mughal-e-Azam is a 1960 Indian historical drama film directed by K. Asif, starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and Durga Khote in the lead roles. It tells the story of Prince Salim, son of the Mughal emperor Akbar, who falls in love with Anarkali, a court dancer. The prince's father disapproves of their relationship and orders for her execution. In an attempt to save her, Salim declares war against his own father. The film follows the struggle between the two, and Salim's eventual victory over his father. The film is noted for its grandeur, as well as its iconic song "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya". Despite its huge budget, it became the highest grossing Bollywood movie of all time and was a major success at the box office. It remains one of the most popular films in Indian cinema and is widely regarded as a classic.
