Mrityudand 1997

Mrityudand tells the story of two women in India, both of whom are victims of a patriarchal society. One is a widow named Mandva, who is ostracized by her family and village after her husband's death. The other is Kusum, a young woman who has been forced into an arranged marriage to an older man. The two women become friends and join forces to bring justice to their plight. Along the way, they face many obstacles and must overcome them with strength and courage. In the end, they succeed in bringing about change in their village and society at large - proving that no matter how difficult the situation may be, there is always hope.
