Story

Morning Raga is a 2004 Indian drama film directed by Mahesh Dattani. It is set in South India and told through the eyes of a Carnatic musician, Arun (Prakashraj). On a train journey to his village, Arun meets a young school teacher, Divya (Shabana Azmi). The two become friends and spend time together discussing their passion for music. One day, while out on a drive, they come across a group of musicians playing traditional songs. Arun is inspired by the music and decides to create a modern fusion of Carnatic and Western music. He teams up with Divya to compose a song that will be performed at the local temple. However, when they present the song to the priests, it isn't accepted as it's considered too modern. Divya and Arun struggle to find acceptance for their creative work. Eventually, Arun's father recognizes the value of their music and helps them get approval from the temple.
