Milan is a 1967 Hindi movie directed by Mahesh Kaul. It tells the story of two college friends, Deepak (Dharmendra) and Shekhar (Shashi Kapoor). Deepak is from a wealthy family while Shekhar is from a poor background. When they meet, they become fast friends and join forces to fight injustices in their society. Deepak's father disapproves of his friendship with Shekhar and tries to break them apart. Despite his father's disapproval, Deepak stands by Shekhar. Meanwhile, Shekhar falls in love with an orphaned girl, Laxmi (Vyjayanthimala), and marries her despite strong opposition from his family and society. Deepak helps him win the approval of his family and society. In the end, the two friends remain loyal to each other and overcome all obstacles. The movie shows that true friendship can transcend class and social barriers.
