Story

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is a biographical drama film about Rani Lakshmi Bai, the legendary queen of the princely state of Jhansi who fiercely led her army against the British East India Company during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Born to a Maratha family in Varanasi, she was married to Raja Gangadhar Rao Newalkar of Jhansi at the age of 14. After his death, she refused to accept the British Raj's orders to adopt an heir from outside her family and instead adopted her own nephew. When the British attempted to take control of Jhansi, she fought courageously to protect her kingdom and became a symbol of resistance to the British Raj. Her tactics, including guerrilla warfare, won her the respect of many Indians and she has since become a folk hero. The movie follows her story as she battles injustice and strives to protect her people. In the end, she dies in battle but her spirit lives on and inspires future generations.
