Story

Malamaal Weekly is a 2006 Indian comedy film directed by Priyadarshan. The story revolves around Lilaram, an uneducated poor man living in a small village in India. He dreams of getting rich quick and stumbles upon a lottery ticket which he believes can make his dreams come true. He assembles a group of other villagers to form a syndicate and pool their money together to buy lottery tickets. Lilaram's luck runs out when he learns that his ticket isn't the winning one. However, with the help of his syndicate, they manage to find the real winner: an old man who had gone missing from the village years before. With the winnings, the syndicate helps the old man rebuild his life as well as helping the villagers in need. In the end, Lilaram's dreams have come true without him having to rely on luck after all.
