Story

Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara (I Did Not Kill Gandhi) is a 2005 Indian Hindi drama film directed by Jahnu Barua. The story revolves around Professor Uttam Chaudhary, a retired schoolteacher who is haunted by a single event from his past - the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. He slowly begins to unravel his own past and discovers that he had been present at the scene when the fatal shot was fired. His guilt leads him to the brink of insanity and threatens to destroy his life. He struggles to come to terms with his own feelings of culpability and eventually decides to confront the truth. The movie explores themes of grief, guilt and redemption as it follows Professor Choudhary's journey of self-discovery. In the end, he is able to forgive himself and come to terms with his past.
