Story

Laat Saheb is a 1967 Indian Hindi-language drama film starring Shashi Kapoor and Nutan. The movie follows the story of an ambitious man, Laat Saheb, who is determined to rise above his station in life. After serving as a clerk for many years, he manages to get himself appointed to a higher post and wins the admiration of his superiors. He meets and falls in love with a young woman, Uma, who is from a wealthy family. Unfortunately, her parents disapprove of their relationship and force them apart. Despite this setback, Laat Saheb remains determined to make something of himself. He works hard and eventually earns enough money to gain entry into Uma's family. Though their relationship is frowned upon by Uma's parents, Laat Saheb and Uma are ultimately able to marry and live happily ever after.
