Khud-Daar 1982

Khud-Daar is a 1982 comedy drama about the battle of wits between two rival families. The story focuses on the rivalry between the wealthy Thakur family and the impoverished Shambhu family. After Thakur's daughter, Suman, runs away to marry Shambhu's son, Pratap, the two families are pitted against each other in a battle of wits and resources. Despite the Thakur's attempts to sabotage the marriage, the couple successfully wed and the Shambhu family get a chance to be socially accepted. The two families then go head-to-head in a series of competitions, including wrestling, a boat race, and even a treasure hunt. In the end, despite all of the Thakur's attempts to outwit the Shambhu family, it is the latter who comes out victorious, and the two families finally reconcile. Khud-Daar tells a tale of love, friendship, and family loyalty, and shows how even the unlikeliest of relationships can blossom and thrive.
