Story

Khandan is a 1965 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Mohan Kumar. It stars Sunil Dutt, Sadhana and Ashok Kumar in lead roles. The story follows the struggles of a middle-class family, headed by its patriarch Ranbir Raj (Ashok Kumar). He lives with his wife Shanti Devi (Lalita Pawar) and their two children, Ajit (Sunil Dutt) and Meena (Sadhana). They are struggling to make ends meet, as they are unable to pay their rent and are constantly harassed by their landlord. Meanwhile, Ajit falls in love with Kamini (Nanda), daughter of a rich businessman, and they get married without her father's permission. This causes a rift between the families, and things become further complicated when Ajit discovers that Kamini's father had earlier been involved with his mother, leading to an intense confrontation between them. In the end, Ranbir Raj manages to resolve the issue and the family is once again reunited. Through their struggles, the family learns the importance of love and unity.
