Story

Kadvi Hawa is a 2017 Indian drama film directed by Nila Madhab Panda. The movie follows the story of a blind old man, Santu, who has come to a village in the parched tribal land of Bundelkhand, Central India. He is there seeking a loan from the local moneylender, Banke, who is also blind and lives in abject poverty. Santu’s daughter-in-law has decided to leave him because of his blindness and the inability to provide for her family. Santu’s son, Gulab, is trying to make ends meet by selling firewood in the local market but he is struggling to make enough money to survive. The two men, Santu and Banke, both struggling with their own problems, form an unlikely bond due to their shared experiences of suffering and understanding of each other’s plight. In the end, it is revealed that both are victims of global warming and climate change with the area facing severe drought and lack of rain.
